Advertising is very important to the success of any business and side jobs are no different. You can pay through the nose for advertising or you can go the free route. I prefer the free route (don’t you?). Most free advertising strategies deal with submitting links to website after countless website but if you’re creative you can pull out a real stunner. Oh boy, do I have a stunner! Well I don’t have it yet but it’s in the works.

What if you can get thousands or even hundreds of thousands of targeted traffic to your side job website? How much would you pay? How much time would you spend trying to get this type of traffic? Well it’s going to cost you $0 and maybe an hour or two of your time. Google is starting a “Change the World project” called Project 10¹⁰⁰ (pronounced "Project 10 to the 100th"). Project 10¹⁰⁰ is a call for ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible. This is how it works: you submit a great idea that can help change the world for the better and if Google likes it, they will post your idea online for all Google users to vote on. This project is world wide and Google has millions of users. The top 5 ideas will split $10 million which will go towards the implementation of the idea. For our purposes of advertising, you don’t need to win; you just need to get to the voting stage which will only have 100 spots. These 100 spots will have (I’m guessing) over a million viewers which could turn into thousands of targeted traffic hits to your site. In Google’s idea submission page there is an option to link a 30sec YouTube video to your entry. This is where you can advertise your real world side job or online side job. When you make your video I recommend that you add a graphic that states “If anyone wants to know more about (enter your idea here) you can go to (enter your website here)”. When you add the video to YouTube make sure that you also add your side job website to your profile. If you do win the contest, congratulations and thanks for changing the world.
